Better Spaces, Brighter Futures

PROJECT UPDATE  from the President & CEO, Carol Wood

December 30, 2016

Better Spaces, Brighter Futures is a $9,000,000 campaign to raise funds to build a residential treatment complex to replace three outdated cottages and to fully renovate a dormitory built in 1913 housing our grades 1 – 12 school serving students with behavioral and emotional needs necessitating special educational services. Although each of the current facilities had been remodeled over the years, they simply were not built with the safety, supervision and security considerations needed for today’s specialized care, education and treatment needs.  The current facilities also lack the needed single bedrooms, adequate bathrooms, accessibility, private spaces for counseling and care management meetings, safe areas during storms and welcoming areas for families to spend time with their children.

Architectural services were secured to update the master plan, including preliminary plans and projected costs for these specific projects and a philanthropic planning study was also conducted.  The fundraising campaign, chaired by Dick and the late DeAnne Miller, and Dr. Alan & Cordie Fisher, was officially launched in October, 2014.  As of December 31, 2016, $8,497,500 has been raised in cash gifts and pledges.  In addition, a $1,000,000 deferred gift has also been committed.

Thank you for your continuing investment in the future!  Please consider a gift today!
