Behavioral Health Intervention Services
Behavioral Health Intervention Services are offered in Council Bluffs and the surrounding area for Medicaid members who are under the age of 18. The services are designed to modify the psychological, behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and social factors affecting a member’s functioning.
Interventions may address the following skills for effective functioning with family, peers, and community in an age-appropriate manner:
- Cognitive Flexibility skills
- Communication skills
- Conflict Resolution skills
- Emotional regulation skills
- Executive skills
- Interpersonal relationship skills
- Problem-solving skills, and
- Social skills
The referral for these services may come from many different sources including the parent(s), school, Integrated Health Homes, Department of Human Services, or Juvenile Court Services. To be eligible the child must be assessed by a Licensed Practitioner of Healing Arts (usually a therapist), must have a psychological diagnosis, and demonstrate a need for behavioral health intervention services related to the member’s psychological disorder. Children’s Square can do the assessment, or will work with families using other therapists.
