Endowment Challenge

HELP US RISE TO THE CHALLENGE

Make a commitment to Children’s Square U.S.A.’s endowment by December 31, 2022 and your gift will be matched one-to-one, doubling its impact!

A long-time donor recently approached CEO with a proposal. The donor believed so strongly in Children’s Square and the importance of the work it does that they wanted to do something to help ensure that the organization would endure for generations to come. The donor knew that growing the endowment would be critical to the organization’s long-term financial stability. A larger endowment would help Children’s Square weather the variances in public support and help to fill the gap when state reimbursements fail to pay the total cost of the high-quality programs and services the organization delivers.

The donor proposed that if the organization could mobilize other committed supporters and promote this exciting challenge, that they would match all new and increased gifts to the endowment made from now until December 31, 2022, dollar-for-dollar up to $500,000.

Endowment donations are invested through the Christian Home Association Foundation, a portion of the proceeds from the annual proceeds from the investment provide supplemental operating support, while the remaining funds are reinvested to ensure long-term support.

GIFTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

In the 2021 Strategic Plan, Children’s Square has set out to grow the assets of the Foundation, including endowed funds, from the current $4M to $10M over the next 10 years. A larger endowment will also provide support to help Children’s Square evolve and continue to innovate in the programs it delivers as well as invest in the essential workforce these efforts require.

For gifts to qualify to meet the challenge and be matched by the donor, all gifts must be designated specifically to the Endowment, and must be received by December 31, 2022.

Gifts can be cash, securities, real estate, etc. Planned gifts can also be given and qualify for the challenge as long as they are designated to endowment and are legally irrevocable.

Individuals over 70 years of age have a unique opportunity to give through an IRA charitable rollover (or a qualified charitable distribution.) An individual can give up to $100,000 from their IRA directly to a qualified charity such as Children’s Square without having to pay income taxes on the transfer. Beginning at the age of 72, a donor can use their gift to satisfy all or part of the required minimum distribution (RMD), and pay no income taxes on the gift.

A gift may be designated as unrestricted in order to provide the most benefit for Children’s Square, or a donor may designate the purpose of their endowment gift.
