Iowa Foster Care and Adoption Services
Children’s Square is a subcontractor with Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI), who contracts with the Iowa Department of Human Services to recruit and retain foster and adoptive families. These families are available to be successfully matched with children who need out-of-home care in a foster family setting, adoptive placement or relative placement.
The goals of this program are to:
- Increase permanency outcomes for children in foster care.
- Increase the number of qualified, licensed and available foster, adoptive and relative homes.
After efforts to reunify with birth parents or other relative have been exhausted, a child may become available for adoption. Post Adoption Services is a federally subsidized program for adoptive parents with a child who has an adoption subsidy.
Iowa has an urgent need for foster families for all ages, including those who can collaborate with birth families and open their hearts and homes to teenagers, sibling groups, and children with special needs. Iowa also has a significant need for more African American, Latino, and Native American foster parents. Foster parents must be at least 21 years old. They can be single, cohabitating, married, living in multi-generational family homes, and homes with or without children. Those interested in becoming foster parents in western Iowa should call Children’s Square at 712-322-3700 or Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) at 1-844-547-7787.
