The Heritage Society
The Heritage Society was established in recognition and to honor the individuals who have provided for Christian Home Association – Children’s Square U.S.A. in their wills and trusts, through a matching gift, charitable gift annuity, and/or buy other gifts to the agency’s foundation.
Other gifts include gifts of cash, stocks, bonds, retirement funds I(RAs), livestock, grain, real estate and life insurance. Contributions to the Children’s Square Endowment Fund at Pottawattamie County Community Foundation (PCCF) are also recognized.
The Christian Home Association Foundation authorizes a specific amount each year to support programs and services, fund special projects, and spiritual life programming.
Primmer of Giving Opportunities
Annual is the primary fundraising method used for board agency support and to provide operating support for ongoing programs.
Capital Giving are organized fundraising efforts to secure philanthropic gifts for specific capital needs, executed within a specific time period.
Endowment is a pool of money invested to provide income and revenue for the organizations operations or for a specific program, typically built by planned giving.
Planned Giving is the integration of personal, financial, and estate planning concepts for lifetime or testamentary giving.

Outright or current, a complete transfer or realized gift of cash or stocks/bonds etc.
Deferred testamentary giving or life income arrangements to be realized in the future, such as bequests and charitable gift annuity’s.

Bequest – a provision made in your will through which Children’s Square U.S.A. receives cash or other assets at the time of the donor’s passing.
Charitable Gift Annuity – a contract between Children’s Square U.S.A. and a donor through which the donor exchanges cash, stocks, or other assets for an agreed-upon income for life.
Retirement Funds (IRA’s) – a donor who has reached age 70 1/2 may exclude an IRA (Individual Retirement Account) funds that are withdrawn and transferred to Children’s Square U.S.A. when filing a tax return for that year. There is an annual cap of $100,000 per individual/$200,000 per married couple that can be given from an IRA.
Charitable Remainder Trust – a donor transfers assets to a trust, which then goes to Children’s Square U.S.A. after the passing of the last beneficiary. The donor retains a fixed or variable income for life.
